We visited ten beautiful gardens this summer. Thank you to everyone who welcomed us into their little piece of Eden.
We have two more events before we pack away the garden tools. On Sunday, August 31, we will carpool to the Variegated Nursery in Connecticut. We’ll leave from my house at 115 Prouty Road in New Braintree at 10:15 and then leave from the West Brookfield Library at 10:30. If you drive your car, we will all chip in for gas. I will be driving my pickup truck, so we will have PLENTY of room for all those plants that we can buy on sale. If you have any questions, please call me at 508 867-3324.
The New Braintree Country Fair will be held on Saturday, September 20, from 10 am to 10 pm. Our plant swap was very successful last year. Many of you brought plants to swap, and those who didn’t just paid a few dollars for them. We donated that money to the Fair Committee.
As you do your end-of-the-season garden work, please pot up some plants and label them so that they’ll be ready for the swap. We will be set up near the New Braintree Post Office driveway, under a white awning. You will be able to pull in and swap your plants, but then you will need to find a legitimate parking spot at the fair. If you do not have any plants to swap, we will charge $2.00 for each perennial and $4.00 for each shrub, and once again we will donate the money. If you cannot come to the swap but have plants to donate, just drop them off at my house. I also have pots if you need them.
The fall is a great time to get a jump on next year’s gardening, so come on out to the fair. If you could volunteer to sit at the Flower Society swap table for an hour, please let me know. Thank you.
